Coating Dual-layer acrylate (245µm/200µm) Mechanical protection
Ribbon Matrix UV-cured acrylate/polyester Holds fibers in flat ribbon form
Strength Member Aramid yarn, FRP, or steel wire Tensile reinforcement
Outer Jacket LSZH (indoor), PE (outdoor) Fire resistance, durability

Comparison: G657A1 vs. G657A2

Feature G657A1 G657A2
Bending Radius 10mm 7.5mm
MFD (1310nm) 8.8±0.4µm 8.6±0.4µm
Macrobend Loss (1550nm, 10 turns @15mm) ≤0.2dB ≤0.03dB
Typical Use General FTTH Extreme bends (corners, tight ducts)

Where You Can Use this?

FTTH (Fiber-to-the-Home) Networks

Due to their bend-insensitive properties, they are ideal for tight indoor installations, such as corners, ducts, and wall conduits.

1.Data Centers & High-Density Cabling

Ribbon fibers allow compact routing in patch panels and high-density interconnects.

2.5G & FTTx Backbone Networks

Used in microducts and OPGW (Optical Ground Wire) for high-fiber-count deployments

3.Industrial & Harsh Environments

Some variants with tight-buffered or armored structures are used in factories or extreme-temperature conditions

Structure of G657A1/G657A2 Fiber Ribbon Cables

  1. Fiber Core

    • Uses G.657A1 or G.657A2 single-mode fibers, which are optimized for bending resistance.

    • G.657A1 allows a minimum bending radius of 10mm, while G.657A2 supports 7.5mm, making them ideal for tight spaces 28.

    • The fiber has a 125µm cladding diameter and a 242-245µm coating diameter (standard or reduced to 200µm for high-density applications)

  2. Ribbon Matrix

    • Multiple fibers (1 to 12 cores) are arranged in a flat ribbon structure, bonded by a UV-cured acrylate or polyester matrix.

    • This allows for mass fusion splicing, reducing installation time in high-fiber-count deployments.

  3. Strength Members

    • Aramid yarn (Kevlar®) or fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) rods provide tensile strength.

    • phosphated steel wires for outdoor or aerial applications.

  4. Outer Jacket

    • Indoor cablesLSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) or PVC for fire safety.

    • Outdoor cablesPE (Polyethylene) for UV and moisture resistance

Question to answer

Is It High Voltage or Low Voltage?

  • Fiber optic cables (including GYTC8S) do not carry electrical voltage—they transmit light signals instead of electrical power.

  • However, they may be installed alongside power lines  OPGW or ADSS cables but remain electrically non-conductive.

 How Does It Work?

  • Structure:

    • Contains loose tubes with 250µm fibers (G.652D single-mode or G.651A multimode).

    • Reinforced with steel wire for self-supporting capability.

    • Uses PSP (double-sided coated steel tape) for moisture resistance 14.

  • Signal Transmission:

    • Works via optical signals (light pulses), not electrical current.

    • Supports wavelengths like 1310nm & 1550nm (single-mode) and 850nm/1300nm (multimode)
